In response to the economic outcome of COVID-19, Congress passed three bills:

These bills provide immediate and direct economic assistance to Districts negatively impacted by the pandemic. DeKalb County School District received its share of allocations.

ESSER I- CARES Act

This bill was signed into law on March 27, 2020. These funds are specifically for coronavirus response activities, such as planning for and coordinating during long-term school closures, purchasing educational technology to support online learning for all student, and additional activities authorized in the law.

ESSER II- CRRSA Act

This bill was signed into law on December 27, 2020. These additional funds are specifically for planning for and coordinating activities that address learning opportunity loss, preparing schools for reopening, testing, repairing, upgrading projects to improve air quality in school buildings, and additional activities authorized in the law.

ESSER III- ARP Act

This bill was signed into law on March 11, 2021 to speed up the recovery from the economic and health effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
