2020 DeKalb County School District Budget Input Survey
The DeKalb County School District (DCSD) annually develops a Consolidated Budget that reflects the Board of Education and Superintendent’s goals and priorities. This budget process includes a Resource Allocation Methodology Plan (RAMP) to equitably allocate state and local funds to all schools in the district.
Today, DeKalb County is one of the most diverse counties in the southeast and is home to over 700,000 residents from over 180 nations. The District serves approximately 100,000 students in 136 schools and centers and employs over 15,500 faculty and staff. DCSD is a leader in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) curriculum with STEM certified schools and many other instructional programs. The District also offers school choice options to include theme, magnet, International Baccalaureate, charter and Montessori options. In addition to direct instructional costs, the District’s budget must provide funds for administration, plant operations, maintenance, food services, transportation, safety and other instructional support to include media centers, teacher training, nurses and counselors.
In 2019, the District passed a consolidated budget in the amount of $1.833 billion to include state, federal and local dollars. A full copy of the district’s 2019 budget summary and details are located on the district’s website at: www.dekalbschoolsga.org/superintendent/budget/
